Diddy Brought the ‘90s Back at the BET Awards

It was a big night for Diddy. Not only was he bestowed the important job of presenting Smokey Robinson with a Lifetime Achievement Award, but he also took the stage to perform and celebrate 20 years of the record label Bad Boy. Bringing together  Lil’ Kim, Faith Evans, Ma$e, Pharrell Williams, French Montana, and more hip hop legends, the multi-named and multi-talented artist dressed for the occasion in a ‘90s-era jumpsuit.
Wearing red track pants, a matching red, white, and blue patterned track jacket, Forrest Gump’s favorite Nike sneakers, and a gold and diamond chain with a pendant in the shape of the Mercedes logo, Diddy rapped through his smiling — seriously, he was grinning like a kid in a candy store the entire time — hit such as  “Hypnotize,” “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems,” and “Love Like This Before.” He also wore round glasses, or I should say spectacles, that could’ve been stolen straight off the set of Harry Potter.

The medley even included reuniting 112 for a rendition of “Peaches and Cream,” during which Diddy fell through a trap door in the stage (Lil’ Kim was hiding underneath preparing to pop up and surprise the audience). But he didn’t let it get him down — or it did, literally — but he got right back up. “I was getting so loose I fell! LOL, but really though I busted my ass,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a video of the incident. “ IF YOU EVER FALL DOWN, get your ass up and FIGHT!!!!!!! But really though, I crack up every time I see this sh**! it’s like I f***ing disappeared. HAAAAAA!!!!”

Diddy didn’t break the trap door because Lil Kim was able to emerge and join the crew for “It’s All About the Benjamins.” She wore a leather and sheer jumpsuit with thigh-high leather boots that didn’t necessarily stick with the ‘90s theme — instead, it was timeless.

For the last segment of the medley, Diddy made an outfit change and brought out Pharrell to premiere their new single, Finna Get Loose. The recently arrested father put on red shorts, matching sneakers, a jacket covered in junk food, and a bucket hat.
