FIFA scandal latest: I won’t step down – Blatter

Image
EMBATTLED President of world soccer governing body, FIFA, Sepp Blatter, has declared that he wont be stampeded out of office in spite of the latest probe he is facing from Swiss authorities. While Blatter had resolved to hang on tenaciously to power, European soccer federation boss, Michel Platini dismissed the financial allegation against him as a none issue. Platini wrote to all of UEFA’s 54 member associations in an effort to explain that the extraordinary £1.35m consultancy payment he received from FIFA President Sepp Blatter was a legitimate fee for four years’ work. Blatter’s lawyer, Lorenz Erni, in a statement made available to the media yesterday insisted that his client had done nothing wrong and would as such not throw in the towel until early next year when FIFA elections would take place after an emergency extra ordinary congress. Erni’s statement read in part: “President Blatter spoke to FIFA staff today and informed the staff that he was cooperating with the authorities,

Apple's New iPhone Blazes Past Previous Record

Image
The tech giant reports it sold 13 million iPhone 6S and 6S Plus devices this weekend. On Friday, Apple launched the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. On Monday, the company announced that the handsets broke previous sales records. Imagine that. “Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” CEO Tim Cook said in a prepared statement. All told, Apple says it's sold more than 13 million units in the three days since launch. That's 3 million more than Apple reportedly sold last year when it also set a record with the original iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The main difference here is that the iPhone 6S family was immediately available in China. Last year, Chinese consumers had to wait an entire month before they could get their hands on shiny new iPhone 6 and 6 Pluses. So, keep your eyes peeled when the iPhone 7 inevitably launches next year: 13 million is

Jaxon needs constant care because his development is extremely delayed, but he’s already smashed accomplishments that doctors predicted he never could and he’s just reached his first birthday, which felt like a real milestone. Jaxon’s family said: ‘His perseverance and strength already shown is why we are calling his inspirational story, “Jaxon Strong”. ‘Ultimately, Jaxon will need a miracle long-term. We continue to ask for support and prayers, as it is a blessing that his Mom continues to stay home with him for constant care.’ Because mum Brittany had to give up her career to care for her son

Saudi Arabia Protests Inclusion Of Gay Rights In UN Development Agenda

Image
Saudi Arabia is protesting any references to homosexuality in a sweeping new agenda for global development, saying it runs "counter to Islamic law." Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir told a U.N.  summit  of world leaders Sunday that "mentioning sex in the text, to us, means exactly male and female. Mentioning family means consisting of a married man and woman." He asserted his country's right to not follow any rules that relate to any "deviations" from that belief as the world moves forward on the new development agenda. The so-called Sustainable Development Goals include a target to ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights by 2030. Some states like Saudi Arabia and the Vatican are concerned that references to "sexual rights" include rights for gay people. Source: HuffPost

New Dinosaur discovered

Researchers have discovered a new dinosaur with the resilience to live in darkness for months at a time and endure the unforgiving high Arctic of Alaska. Ugrunaaluk  (oo-GREW-na-luck)  kuukpikensis  (KOOK-pik-en-sis) was a duck-billed herbivore that grew to a length of up to 30 feet and chewed with hundreds of individual teeth made for eating coarse vegetation, researchers with the University of Alaska Museum of the North revealed Tuesday. The dino is from a distinct species of hadrosaur, one that lived 69 million years ago in temperatures far cooler than his hadrosaur cousins found in Canada and the lower 48 states. According to a university press release: Earth sciences curator Pat Druckenmiller said the majority of the bones used in the study came from the Liscomb Bone Bed, a fossil-rich layer along the Colville River in the Prince Creek Formation, a unit of rock deposited on the Arctic flood plain about 69 million years ago. “Today we find these animals in polar latitud
