An 85-year-old man has died after falling 25ft from a zip line at a Christian retreat in Michigan.
James McNeil never regained consciousness after the fall, which was witnessed by his wife and others at Bay Shore Camp, authorities said.
The elderly man was pronounced dead at hospital on Friday.
Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson said investigators are looking at a possible harness malfunction as the cause of the fall.
She said the camp’s zip line staff were properly trained and certified. The death is being investigated as an accident.
Bay Shore Camp is a Christian camp located about 120 miles north of Detroit. The camp offers youth activities as well as adult retreats and events.
A statement on the group’s Facebook page said: “We are deeply saddened by this turn of events.”
“We ask that you hold all those touched by this tragic loss in your prayers.”
A prayer vigil was held at the camp on Saturday morning.
